To match with the sustainable philosophy of the college, Setty & Associates implemented design features which follow LEED criteria.
Our recommendations on architectural features and approaches enhanced HVAC performance and daylighting. The design development sought o yield the most sustainable design comparing different information characteristics relative to HVAC consumption and utilizing biodegradable and recyclable products in the construction that would have minimum impact on the environment.
As the building design called for a large amount of windows for daylighting and the upper level roof held large dormers with large windows used for lighting the central atrium, S&A engineers determined that air-cooled chillers, a 120-ton dehumidification A/C unit, a ground source heat pump system, and an integrated pond for energy exchange would satisfy energy consumption goals for the college. |
