The Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden is a “leading voice for contemporary art and culture and provides a national platform for the art and artists of our time.” All those who have visited the Hirshhorn Museum realize the impact of the facility.

The facility, itself a living work of art, requires professional attention when addressing the existing systems which
have been in place since the late 1970’s.

Given a long standing relationship with the Smithsonian Institution, Setty & Associates was engaged to perform A/E Services for the contemporary art and culture museum. Our scope of services include, all pre-design, existing conditions surveys, reports, conceptual designs, schematic designs, and other design and engineering services. S&A projects include:

  • Remediation of water infiltration at the exterior concrete wall and balcony along with related repairs and improvements.
  • Renovation of the loading dock ramp and retaining walls.
  • HVAC system relocation in an area adjacent to the loading dock.
  • Repair/Waterproof balcony. Repair exterior wall water intrusion. Modify loading dock ramp and repair/replace loading dock with retaining wall. Relocate HVAC air intake. 
  • Additional HVAC airside commissioning support documentation.
  • Development of general commissioning requirements in the specifications to support submittal requirements by the Commissioning Authority.
  • Documentation of existing control system as installed and modified.
  • Expansion of air system schematic to represent installed conditions.
  • Documentation of existing control system as installed and modified.
