The Patent Office Building, one of the oldest federal buildings in Washington D.C., houses the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery and the Smithsonian’s American Art Museum. In 2000, a six-year renovation of the building began, which Setty & Associates took part in.
Our engineers offered a comprehensive analysis of existing mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, energy analysis, schematic design of alternative systems, cost estimates, life cycle costing and recommendations for best alternate system suitable for providing constant temperature all year round with considerable structural, historic and architectural constraints in the 332,674 sf building, which supported the renovation effort.
