Jones Point Park is designed as a local neighborhood park with regional and national historic interest. The reconditioning will not disturb the existing community oriented character but upgrade and improve current conditions by adding new elements and addressing
current concerns
The goals of the design are to create a park that integrates the new Woodrow Wilson Bridge as an integral element of the park and balance natural, recreational and cultural resources and opportunities. The objectives of the design are to protect and conserve the existing natural habitat (woodlands, wetlands, tidal marsh and shoreline, woodland grove and created natural area) and improve its qualities by providing existing and new, picnic and strolling areas for local residents. This structure is designed to utilize green methods, materials, and equipment. Rainwater is captured for use as potable water for drinking fountains and lavatory sinks for a high level of sustainable design. Grey water will be recycled. Power is generated by means of solar photovoltaics. . |
