MEP/FP Design & Geothermal System & Photovoltaic System
SETTY provided MEP/FP design services for the University of the District of Columbia’s 83,000 sf Student Center. With LEED Platinum certification, sustainable design features throughout the building, from a 14,000 sf green roof, and 200 ton geothermal system, to photovoltaic panels to a rain garden and water treatment system that mitigates the amount and quality of water entering the city’s stormwater system.
The student center is a state-of-the-art center with a large atrium, ballrooms, and student concessions. There is a fitness center and 24/7 access to this building. The MEP systems drive off of a geothermal based ground source heat pump system and a dedicated outside air unit modulates the fresh air based on the occupant load. Designed cross flow heat exchanger accentuates the elegant design required for the integrated programming.
