Hyde-Addison Elementary School, located in Washington, DC provides education from pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. This project included a renovation of the existing historic elementary school and an addition.

SETTY provided MEP/FP engineering services. SETTY participated in phase 1 and phase 2 towards the modernization of this elementary school. Phase 1 included academic components while Phase 2 included support components of the schools.

The building utilizes various Architectural, Mechanical, and Plumbing measures to increase energy efficiency and sustainability. This project includes heavily insulated wall and roof structure, along with energy efficient windows, which reduce the heat transfer between the building and outdoors. Also includes a white reflective roof coating which absorbs less heat than any traditional roof coatings.

A state-of-the art Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) HVAC system was also provided. This system uses the excess heat from one space in order to heat another, which in turn reduces the energy consumption.

SETTY also provided Energy recovery systems in the air handlers to reduce the cooling and heating loads. Other systems include a demand control ventilation system and occupancy sensors for the lighting fixtures to facilitate automated lighting.
