Homeport II serves as a secondary homeport to complement the original at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The facility includes an upland warehouse. It provides overnight berthing, maintenance and fueling of ferry vessels, the site also features a robust marine infrastructure, including heavy-duty monopiles, floating docks, travel-lift piers, and dockside utility systems for fueling, sewage pump-out, water, and fire suppression.

SETTY is providing comprehensive MEP/FP design and utilities integration for the Homeport II facility at Atlantic Basin in Red Hook, Brooklyn, working in partnership with McLaren Engineering Group.

The new critical waterfront infrastructure is designed to support the growing NYC Ferry fleet, providing modern facilities that enhance efficiency, safety, and resilience. The project delivers berthing capacity for up to 40 vessels, with 21 slips at Pier 10 and 12 slips at Pier 12, equipped with floating docks, utility racks, and a dedicated travel-lift pier to enable routine maintenance and lift-outs. Onshore, the site features 30,000 SF of upgraded warehouse and support space, including storage, locker rooms, utility systems, and restrooms to meet operational needs.

To safeguard reliability, all mechanical and electrical systems are elevated above flood levels, ensuring redundancy during extreme weather events and storm surges. The facility also provides comprehensive vessel operations support, including shore power, potable water connections, sewage pump-out services, fueling stations, and integrated fire protection and alarm systems—making it a state-of-the-art hub for NYC’s working waterfront.

Homeport II transforms a previously underutilized stretch of the Atlantic Basin into a high-functioning, resilient working waterfront, supporting the scale-up of NYC’s ferry operations while reinforcing the city’s waterfront infrastructure.
