Founded in 1901 as National Bureau of Standards, NIST is a non-regulatory agency and Federal research laboratory in the US Department of Commerce relocated to Gaithersburg from Washington, DC in 1960. The total area of this facility extends to a massive 579 acre which houses approximately 3.6 Million GSF of buildings.

SETTY holds a total of three (3) IDIQ – Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity Contracts with the National Institute of Standard and Technology spread across a duration of 12 years ranging from year 2008 – 2020 which roughly translation to approximately $3.8 Million in contract value.

NIST, Building 225 Computer Room Study and Design Gaithersburg, MD

SETTY provided computer room study, inventory computer room air-conditioning, identify existing overall black HVAC heat gains, heat power load location densities within computer room, return air path, HVAC configuration, preferred computer vs. CRAC configurations (e.g., hot and cold rows, floor registers), ventilation needs and OA supply, inventory computer room air-conditioning (CRAC) units, refrigeration sources, existing computer room processing equipment (type, manufacturer, model, age, heat generation), and existing electric power equipment.

NIST, Building 301 - Cafeteria, Gaithersburg, MD

SETTY performed an interior renovation to convert a portion of the 6,000 SF cafeteria in Building 301 into an open office suite for 4 to 5 office cubicles in addition to a manager’s office.

NIST, Building 224 Mechanical Upgrades, Gaithersburg, MD

SETTY provided design services for the replacement of fan coil units in NIST building 224. Our work includes preparation of detailed construction drawings.  Additionally, we developed a phasing plan for relocating the office occupants to a nearby building for the duration of construction.
