United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Construction of New Laboratory/Office and Headhouse/Greenhouse Facilities at the Agricultural Technology Research Center, Salinas, CA

The 2012 USDA, ARS Capital Investment Strategy identified various projects, and in 2016, SETTY was contracted through our IDIQ with the USDA to update the project drawings in compliance with current codes and standards. The project involves a two-phase construction plan.

Phase 1 focuses on the construction of the Lab/Office Wings. This phase entails two separate buildings connected by covered pedestrian walkway bridges, forming a central courtyard. The lab buildings have a total area of 72,075 GSF, with the west wing covering approximately 33,034 GSF and the east wing spanning 39,041 GSF. The design integrates offices with labs and creates centralized work areas on each floor. Additionally, Phase 1 includes the construction of permanent greenhouse swing space structures and an insect house on the southeast side of the site. Once Phase 1 is complete, the USDA will relocate to the new labs, and the existing buildings will be demolished to accommodate Phase 2.

Phase 2 focuses on the Headhouse and Greenhouse layout. It consists of three blocks of greenhouses running north/south from the headhouse, optimizing overall light availability throughout the year, although providing slightly less light inside during the winter. The total greenhouse space, including the links to the headhouse, occupies an area of 23,700 GSF, while the headhouse itself spans 10,000 GSF.

United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) - Rutgers Marucci Center, Headhouse #2 and Greenhouse #4, Chatsworth, NJ

Designing repair and renovation activities aimed at enhancing the working conditions within the Headhouse and potting shed. Scope specifically focuses on USDA Headhouse #2 and Greenhouse #4, which are situated at the Philip E. Marucci Center for Blueberry and Cranberry Research in Chatsworth, New Jersey. The Headhouse building, built in 1977, is connected to Greenhouse #4 and #2 via a potting shed. The total area of Headhouse #2 is 1,130 SF.

State University of New York (SUNY) - Farmingdale, Greenhouse Study, Farmingdale, NY

MEP/FP and Fire Alarm services for the Farmingdale Greenhouse Study Project.

State University of New York (SUNY) - Binghamton, Greenhouse, Binghamton, NY

MEP design and Construction Administration for the renovation of approximately 10,576SF of greenhouse space.

DC Department of General Services (DGS), Revitalization of Greenhouses at Twin Oaks and Lederer Youth Gardens, Washington, DC

MEP design for the renovation of two greenhouses located at 4801 Nannie Helen Burroughs Ave. NW (Lederer Youth Garden) and 14th Street NW (Twin Oaks). The project includes various site improvements. Inside the greenhouses, SETTY implemented state-of-the-art systems for temperature control, ventilation, and air circulation. This also involves installation of ventilation fans, an automatic watering system, overhead growth lighting, evaporative cooling systems, heating systems, roof ventilation, and supplemental growth lights. Additionally, the project involves repairing the existing building attached to the greenhouse as part of the exterior site improvements. The main goals of the project were to enhance accessibility and functionality for the community, improve the visual aesthetics of the site, and promote greater community engagement with the urban gardens and greenhouses.

United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), South Plains Area - Demolition of Greenhouse #7, Woodard, OK

The objective of this project is to create a comprehensive plan for the demolition of Greenhouse 7 Building, as well as designing a vault or alternative solution to encapsulate or redirect the underground electrical, natural gas, and communications lines that currently run through the basement of the building. SETTY's services encompass conducting an Investigative Report that will outline various options for managing the underground electrical, natural gas, and communications lines.

United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), South Plains Area - Woodward Building Greenhouse Renovation, Woodward, OK

Design for the renovation or potential replacement of East Greenhouse 53. This particular greenhouse, constructed in 1993, spans an area of 5,292 SF and comprises six bays.
