The St. John's Community Hospital expansion, located at 510 Beach 20th Street in Far Rockaway, is a newly constructed, 52,073 SF, 4-story medical facility developed by St. John’s Episcopal Health (SJEH).

Designed by Think! Architects, the new SJEH Medical Building expands the hospital’s capabilities by dedicating each floor to specialized services: the first floor focuses on women’s health and cancer care, including radiation oncology; the second floor integrates primary care with behavioral health services; the third floor supports wellness, recovery, and community mental health programs; and the fourth floor provides infusion services along with additional behavioral health support.

SETTY provided MEP/FP engineering design for the facility, focusing on reliable and resilient systems tailored to medical operations. The design incorporates infection-control HVAC strategies, a dependable emergency power infrastructure, adaptable plumbing systems to support clinical flexibility, and comprehensive fire protection measures across the building.

The new building reinforces SJEH’s vital role as the only hospital providing emergency and ambulatory care for the Rockaways and nearby areas in Queens and Nassau counties. The facility aims to serve more than 20,000 patients annually.
